Totally Dublin - Papi Chulo Film Review Editorial Illustration
Editorial Illustration I was commissioned to make by Totally Dublin for their film review of John Butler's Papi Chulo. The story follows a lonely weatherman (Sean) who is dealing with the loss of his partner and his Mexican handyman (Ernesto). Despite a language barrier and having nothing in common, the two men develop an unexpected but profound friendship.
For the illustration I decided to focus on the circle of paint that becomes a metaphor for the Sean's pain in the film and Ernesto's confusion of why he has been enlisted as a confidante for Sean.
Created in Procreate on Ipad Pro and refined in Adobe Illustrator.
